Professor emerita Carroll Estes, PhD, FAAN, recipient of UC’s 2019-2020 Constantine Panunzio Distinguished Emeriti Award, gave a lecture titled “A Life in Sociology” as part of the UC Emeriti Faculty Association’s lunchtime series on Sept. 16.
The lecture spanned her work as a pioneer and public intellectual on the political economy of aging. It looked at the political economy of aging as a systemic view that assumes old age can be understood only in the context of social conditions and issues of the larger social order.
