Dr. Theresa Rocha Beardall

Dr. Theresa Rocha Beardall is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Washington. They earned their Ph.D. in Sociology at Cornell University in 2019 and their J.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014.

Their scholarship examines how systems of law and agents of the state enforce various modes of state violence.

Their research can be found in a variety of high-impact interdisciplinary journals including Criminology, Sociology of Race and Ethnicity, the Columbia Journal of Race and Law, and the Native American and Indigenous Studies Journal. Additionally, their work has been recognized with generous funding from the William T. Grant Foundation and the Spencer Foundation.
